Start-->>Control Panel-->>Data and time
Date and Time properties windows will open.Here set your Time and Data


 
You can also set your time zone.In time and date properties windows, click on Time Zone tab.



XP also let you automatically  synchronize time.just check the the below box and done.
 

Sometimes, you may get error in time synchronization.Reason why time synchronization fails
  • You are not connected to internet.
  • Firewall is blocking.Unblock network time protocol (NTP) in firewall setting.
  • The Internet time server is too busy or is temporarily unavailable.
  • The time shown on your computer is too different from the current time on the Internet time server. Internet time servers might not synchronize your clock if your computer's time is off by more than 15 hours.
