We often think or listen about dual RAM channel configuration. Actually dual channel RAM configuration build two ram pipelines to the CPU and thus boost system performance. Dual channel actually speedup the RAM speed.
Actually our processor speed is much larger than RAM speed. We find CPU frequency more than 3.0 Ghz .But RAM frequency is 667 MHz, 800 Mhz or even more around 1000 Mhz. Dual channel help to improve RAM speed, and thus improve system performance.
For Dual channel RAM configuration.
- Motherboard should support dual channel.
- Dual channel RAM has special setting. Like most Intel motherboard have 4 RAM slots , and Dual channel set is 1-3 or 2-4. Means you should place your RAM in 1 and 3 slot OR 2 and 4 slots.
- Both RAM chip should be of same memory size and of same frequency.
